Once again, Somerville Road Runners announce the 16th (or 17th, 20th, who remembers?) Almost-Annual and Always Magnificent:

SRR Wintah Challenge!!

Greetings SRR!

It's that time of year. It's the time for egg nog, heavy green vests, friends, and the most amazing free race of the year. That's right folks, the Wintah Challenge is back! While this race can no longer boast the amazing race directing services of Scott and his megaphone, we've got a committee of rock stars willing to step off the tour bus to keep the character of this timeless classic at an all-time record high. Run your best in pristine polar conditions and then stick around for free breakfast, silly awards, NFL Division playoff action, and all around good times at Casey's. This promises to be the most epic kick-off to your spring marathon training season EVER!

When: Saturday, January 10th @ 11:00 a.m. (Extreme snow date: Saturday, January 17th)
Where: Casey's –– 173 Broadway, East Somerville
Who: Open to club and non-club members.

The Run: Your beloved Thursday night 4.06 mile course boasting sprawling urban vistas and a modernized gift tag/iphone app timing system that won't disappoint. Please note that this is a "fun run," and there will be no official traffic control and minimal course support. Please obey all traffic rules and run safely. To spare our volunteer course support and unpaid timing company from unsightly frostbite, timing operations will cease at 11:50 sharp. We welcome all runners/walkers and will offer a sunshine start at 10:30 for those anticipating an average pace above 12 min/mile.

COSTUMES: Costumes are HIGHLY encouraged. We're stopping just short of requiring them for reasons unknown. If you can't bring yourself to wear a costume, please wear winter colors... blue, white, snowflake kind of stuff. There will be awards for best winter-themed costumes.

Entry Fee: FREE!!!
New Registration Process! To help us expedite and enhance the awards process, please pre-register using the Google form linked here.

Upon arrival at Casey's we will ask you to check-in at our registration desk to sign the waiver and pick up your "number." You'll see what we mean.

Post Race: FREE!!! Enjoy breakfast and a complementary beverage at Casey's. Bring a change of clothes and plan to stay for a while!

Awards: Exciting and random as always! See the registration form for some hints of what's to come.

Volunteers Needed!
If you don't plan to run, but still want to be part of the madness, please volunteer. We'll need 10 people for course support and a sweep or two. Please e-mail Julie Holt to help out.

We'll see you there!
