Double Die: 8.26 Miles

28 September 2000

It was a perfect running night for the Double Die...Sam Eid breezed through in 50 minutes, and the rest of the "pack" shortly followed, including Avidov, Phil, and Eric, all of whom insisted they'd only run one lap, thank you. Steve Pepe was escorted by some random little kid on a bike who couldn't believe that Steve was wearing a full-body orange-suit...We're surprised he didn't get shot. Nancy Given won the female masters championship (and a swank gift certificate) in just under an hour, and Robin Shor won the female open (and a Red Sox hat) soon after.... Mike Hume (aka "Bubba") won the much-coveted 17th prize, a pack of baseball cards.

Now, with the baseball theme of the Double Die (yes, that's why we had all the Cracker Jacks), I held back from more...meaningful prizes. Such as a broom, to demonstrate what the Yankees do every October, or a magic wand - because that's the Sox's only option. Okay, as the Yanks are losing 11-1 right now, I hope I don't have to eat those words...

There was a post race seminar on "Bras: Frilly or Sporty?" conducted by Peter Terhune, Aileen Mason, and Kathy McDonald, but I lost my ticket.
