Khoury's Double Die
Thursday, September 21, 2006 Betimes the tide of modern affairs gets too silly and it becomes necessary to look back (if you accept time as a linear concept in matters other than running) and get very very retro and a great way to do that is by getting hard tough relentless and right in the face of people who failed to learn how to age properly and begin sentences like "in my day" to which the only response is screw you pal run this and then let's hear you talk about how soft life is nowadays:
Somerville Road Runners Present This race is one of our "Special K's," an accelerated edition of our weekly Thursday night rain or shine, snow or flood regular runs. The distance is an excellent mid-week shot in the arm, a great way to enhance conditioning, or just a different kind of fun run, Refreshments will be served afterward within the colorful confines of Khoury's State Spa, where the beer is plentiful and cheap.
Why is there always talk about beer? Is it inherent to the culture of running?
For that matter, how cultured is running? Is it like a pearl? If I stick a grain of sand
in my shoe will it grow into a sock? Is this the beer talking?
