Preliminary Business — Numbers for Boston were distributed based on service and desire. The seven winners were Dave Brno, Aileen Mason, Ed O'Connor, Jimmy Normile, Bob Pomeroy, Hilary Gibson, and Chris Blake. The 3 alternates are Anthony Baldman, John DiModica, and Tom Hagerty.
1) Treasury — We have "oodles" in the bank, and made a nice profit on the Gobble. (Editor's note: Ed O'Connor rules.) Still open to discussion on how to dispense it.2) Post-Christmas Party — A suggestion had been made to move the locale. It was decided not to change it. Still at the Medford VFW. Please bring food. See Tom Hagerty.
3) 1/27 Track Meet — We still need volunteers...particularly someone to be responsible for food.......
4) Winter Challenge — This will be held at Casey's; it is our annual free race, and has considerably grown in size under Dan's charming and elegant direction. Breakfast will be provided by Casey's. Start is at 11:00 and we need volunteers!
5) An Ras Mor — To be held on 3/17, St. Patrick's Day. Note, this is the same day as the New Bedford half-marathon.
6) Races-O-The-Month:
7) Club Race Dates — Summer Steamer will be on June 9. (Directed by the triumvirate of Shor, Sweeney, and Sullivan.) 24-Hour will be August 2-3, directed by Dan Solomon and Larry Horlick.
8) Old Standing Committees — The Khoury's Committee, responsible for the timing schedule, sort of fell apart. We need to work on this; we also need a Women's Competition Coordinator, for relays and USATF events.
9) New Standing Committees — Janet Montgomery will chair the Publicity Committee. Dan has been doing Community Relations pretty much by himself; the commitee will be chaired by Dan or Beatrice.
10) Club Phone Number — Dan suggested that someone offer to have their phone # listed on the Coolrunning calendar as the club contact. Vice President Sully informed Dan that he had just listed Dan as the contact. We all had a good laugh.
11) Track Details — Tufts has a new track! We can use it! Starting 1/22!
12) Long Runs — Hilary Gibson is getting long run groups together on Sunday mornings: locations will rotate, as people may want to sponsor it at their houses...Beatrice is sponsoring this week; Marsh VFW Post 1/20.
13) Membership Renewal — DUES NEED TO PE PAID BY FEBRUARY 1!
14) Summer Kids Event — We're doing something in July. Not sure what, but it's going to be good.
15) Materiel — We're looking at prices for a new tent. Also, the President wants a bullhorn. (Editor's note #2: make your own jokes here.)
16) Elections — Held at the March meeting. We've had the same Board of Directors for awhile, and new people should get involved.
Meeting adjourned at 8:10. (Editor's note #3: the Riverdance-or-whatever group was not happy about this, as they had the room booked for their Riverdance-or-whatever session at 8:00. We have to try to wrap it up a little more quickly next time.)
