1) Board Positions Burchell Waring has resigned as membership director, Jessica Hall will assume these responsibilities.
2) Steamer Review We will donate $500 to the Little Flower School and $500 to the Somerville Auxillary police. Steamer Race Director Robin Shor felt disappointed by the lack of runners at this years race and felt that we really need to come up a way to generate some excitement for the race.
3) 24 Hour Review
Race Director Tim Maul reported this year's race increased substantially in revenue
and runners from previous year. Total participant numbers were 68 in the Marathon,
55 in the Ultra and 11 Relay Teams. The club was able to increase
donations to the race charities: Wakefield Teachers Assoc., and Childrens
Hospital.
The Race Directors would like to expand the race next year and will work on the logistics of recruiting and handling more runners.
Feedback from race participants was overwhelmingly positive, and many made note of the
strong showing of
enthusiastic Volunteers at the race. The
2 clubs that came from New York said they would come back next year!
Tim also gave much thanks to co Race-Director Kate for all the hard work she did for the race and to all the volunteers.
The 24 Hour Race Directors have a date pencilled in for next year: August 19/20.
4) Gobble, Gobble, Gobble Update Guiness and Brooks Pharmacy have committed as 2 major sponsors. There are already 2 runners signed up! Contact Steve Burton or Alison Berglund.
5) Yearly Race Events It was suggested that the Race Directors of An Ras Mor, Summer Steamer, 24 Hour and Gobble work together on obtaining vendors and sponsorships, as well as a Timing Company, for all the club races.
6) Volunteer Opportunities BAA Half-Marathon and Mayor's Cup Volunteering at these races is one way that the club gets numbers from the BAA for the Boston Marathon. There are also other Volunteer Opps where the club can earn money such as the Tufts 10K. These volunteer opportunities present a way to meet new people and do something nice for the running community.
7) Special K We need a director/coordinator for Peter's Prediction Run, the last Thursday in October (10/28).
8) Misc.
