This was truly a team effort today, our best showing ever up there. 11 teams in all, spread out over a number of categories. This is where every team counts "slow" or "fast," just fielding a team in a category gives us points.... and the upshot was that SRR took third OVERALL in the aggregate team category! This means we received one of the illustrious and beautiful Mill Cities bricks (given 3 deep in the overall team category) for Overall Team category. we had scoring teams in Mens Open, Womens Open, Mens Masters, Womens Masters, Coed Masters and Coed Open. Individually the teams did very well — our Mens Open team "Steve Burton Wannabee's" (one team name you can't blame me for) came in 4th overall, our best showing ever, the Mens Masters "MasterTones" came in 7th overall and 1st Masters team (again our best showing ever), the Womens Open "Wonder Women" again came in 2nd womens team overall, our Mixed Masters "Tentative Leg Arrangements" was 27th overall and 4th in their division, and our Womens Masters "Somerville's Sassiest" team was awarded 4th in their division. So for those efforts we received 2 more bricks. It has been suggested we build an SRR clubhouse with all the bricks we received....
Great job by everyone running today, on every team. I'd like to give special thanks to Bob Menzie for coordinating the whole affair with the Mill Cities race commitee plus volunteering along the route (SRR provides volunteers at two points along the course) and Chris Bunker and Fred Barney for volunteering at our other spot. It's these volunteers that make it possible for SRR to participate in this event. Also thanks to Ray Charbonneau and Aileen Mason for coordinating teams and for the team captains getting all the logistics worked out, seems like everything went off without a hitch... even though Kate "I'd run and extra mile for you" Maul missed a turn because the sign had blown down. Also thanks to Dan Solomon for leaving the party early before his t-shirt (you had to see it to believe it..) drove the crowd out of the room.
Also thanks to last minute fill-ins for teams such as "Coach Jay," Karin Koehn, Deb Hammer, Kate Maul, Paula LaPierre, Maureen Webster, Barbara Dobbins and some others I've forgotten the names of....
