2010 Old Icky Running Shoes

A whopping 177 pairs of sneakers were collected this year for Nike's ReUse-A-Shoe recycling program, 57 more pairs than last year! This is equivalent to ten large green trash bags full of stinky sneakers! Many thanks to everyone who made donations. And OODLES and OODLES of thanks to Deb Downs who delivered them to Niketown in Boston. From there they're be shipped off to Nike Headquarters in Beaverton, OR to be ground up and made into surfaces for playgrounds and tracks.

Helping to Make A Difference

SRR contributed $7000 to the Cambridge Family & Children's Services at their annual event from the An Ras Mor race proceeds - pictured: Brendan Kearney, Maria Mossaides (Executive Director at CFCS), Mike Greco, Brian Lavalle and Larissa Bifano Park. SRR is one of the title sponsors of this event.

2010 East Somerville Clean-Up

A hardy crew of 5 SRR members came out in the pouring rain on Saturday, May 8th for the annual East Somerville Clean-Up.

RECYCLE DRIVE A SUCCESS! SRR collected 120 pairs of sneakers for the Nike Reuse-A-Shoe drive. They are heading to Nike Headquarters in Beaverton, OR, where they will be ground up & made into surfaces for tracks and playgrounds. Thank you for your donations!

2009 East Somerville Cleanup

SRR pitched in for Somerville Spring Clean-Up Day on May 9th. Here are Scott Abrams and James Moberg picking up trash along everyone's favorite crossroad: McGrath/O'Brien Highway. Hopefully it will bring good karma for the traffic lights.

SRR Recognized

SRR was recognized at the Somerville Homeless Coalition Event on April 25th for donating $12,000 to Project Soup from the proceeds of the 2008 Gobble, Gobble, Gobble Race. Many thanks to Bill Bryant, Race Director.
