How long have you been running? I started in 1993, continued for about 3 years, then gradually stopped. After many years of being a couch potato, I started up again in April 2005.
What made you decide to begin running? To get back in shape.
Did you run competitively in high school? Yes, I did two seasons of outdoor track, one season of indoor track, and one season of cross-country.
Did you run competitively in college? No.
When / why did you join SRR? I joined SRR on November 7, 2005. The track workouts were the main reason.
Total number races: Maybe 100 if you count the meets from high school and the road races in college.
Favorite race (and why): Any race away from the city with gentle rolling hills and whose route I don't know, because I like the scenery and the unpredictable twisting up-and-down of the course (examples: the Alex Milotis 5K in Andover and the Jones Town & Country 10M in Amherst).
Favorite race distance: 5K
Favorite runner: I had a crush on Suzy Hamilton back in high school. Does that count?
Favorite running shoe: Nike Air Pegasus
Average miles per week: 6 to 10
Most MPW Ever: Maybe 35-40 back in high school, if that. I was never a big mileage person.
Best running memory: Breaking five minutes in the mile, something I've done only once.
Worst running memory: Running a 7.5 mile race (New Charles River Run, June 26, 2005) in 95+ degree heat. I had only been running for two months, had never run more than 4 miles before that, and was recovering from shin splints. Needless to say, I walked quite a bit. Not sure what I was thinking.

Running PR's (when and where):
         Khoury's: 33:47 (June 9, 2005)
1 mile: 4:58 (high school track meet, Spring 1994)
2 mile: 10:42 (high school track meet, Spring 1994)
         5K: 17:39 (Franklin Park, Fall 1993)
         4 mile: 33:01 (Khoury's Summer Steamer, 2005)
4.2 mile: 29:08 (Brie Burger in Paradise Run, Cambridge, August 2005)
5 mile: around 31:00 (Spot Pond Run Wild Race, Stoneham, 1994)
10 mile: 1:11:59 (Jones Town & Country 10 Mile Road Race, Amherst, Winter 1995)

Favorite time of day: afternoon
Favorite cereal: Frosted Mini-Wheats
Favorite food: Tie between burritos and calzones
Favorite ice cream: Brigham's Curse Reversed
Favorite cocktail: Gin & Tonic. Overall I prefer beer
For the women: Ginger or Mary Anne? Mary Anne.

Fill in the blank: I like it when I pass rabbits in a race. I hate it when turtles pass me.

Favorite quote:

"It doesn't matter if you win by an inch or by a mile, winning's winning."
    — I'm probably one of the few to quote from "The Fast and the Furious" but I think it's appropriate for some races that I've run in.
