How long have you been running?
Since 2002
What made you decide to begin running? Out of shape, and too expensive to keep a gym membership.
Did you run competitively in high school? Nope
Did you run competitively in college? Nope
When / why did you join SRR? Joined in 2002, I was looking for a group of people that
could get me off on the right foot, so to speak.
Total number races: 30 and counting
Favorite race (and why): POW-MIA 10K. Nice course, mostly flat, and for an outstanding cause.
Favorite race distance: 10K, hands down
Favorite runner: Pepe, of course.
Favorite running shoe: Asics, or Brooks
Average miles per week: 25-30
Most MPW Ever: 65, and it hurt, but a good hurt...
Best running memory: 2004 Hood to Coast Relay [Oregon]: Didn't know most of
the people involved in my relay, but they were the best bunch of people you
could have asked to be with. Especially a last minute addition of a couple
from Oregon. Got to see Seattle, Mt. Rainier, and swam in the Pacific Ocean.
Not to mention I traveled across the country to meet more people involved with SRR.
Worst running memory: 2002 24hr Around the Lake Relay: Last loop,
was a bit too dehydrated,
perhaps a little hallucination, and ran straight into a road sign... ouch!
Running PR's (when and where):
Khourys: 29:38 (September 5, 2002)
5K: 19:55 (Somerville Homeless, October 4, 2003)
10K: 42:33 (Waltham YMCA, October 26, 2002)
4 mile: 28:53 (Helen Driscoll, May 11, 2002)
5 mile: 34:55 (Marathon Sports, July 17,2003)
Half Marathon: 1:50:55 (Melrose Law Enforcement 2003)
20 mile: Yeah, right
Marathon: I don't think so...
Favorite time of day: Early evening, after work, before dinner.
Favorite sport other than running: Swimming
Favorite author: Dean Koontz
Favorite book: Red Badge of Courage
Favorite actor: Sean Connery
Favorite actress: Marissa Tomei
Favorite TV show: CSI
Favorite movie: Highlander (the original)
Favorite musician: Dizzy Gillespie, Linkin Park, Def Leppard
Favorite politician: John McCain
Favorite cereal: Frosty Flakes
Favorite food: STEAK!
Favorite ice cream: Monster Mash
Favorite cocktail: Captain Morgan & Coke
Favorite restaurant: Aztec's Great Mexican at a reasonable price
Favorite car: Chevy Silverado Extended Cab
For the men: Ginger or Mary Ann?: Mary Ann, for the company; Ginger for...
Fill in the blank: I like it when
I finally warm-up and get in the groove.
I hate it when I am too lazy to get out of bed to do anything.
Favorite quotes:
"Walk softly, but carry a big stick" T. Roosevelt
Philosophy: Above all else, life should be fun!
Other: SRR is the one thing keeping me running longer than a few weeks.
Whenever I can't be bothered to run another day, I browse the website and see
all the races everyone is doing. Then sign up for a race, and I get out there and go.
