How long have you been running?
As soon as I could.
What made you decide to begin running? Because my sister did.
Did you run competitively in high school? Yup.
Did you run competitively in college? Yup.
Total number races: hundreds
Favorite race (and why): Fitchburg, MA 1500: because although I had
smashed my knee during a Kappa Sig Keg Toss the day before and could
barely walk, I won the race and 11 seconds off my previous PR. (4:41:01)
Favorite race distance: 800, 1500, 10K and Marathon. Really... all races
when I'm in shape! I just LOVE running. Run run run.
Best running memory: Seeing my mom, at any given race, trying to cheer
for me but she was so excited all she could do was cry. And I wonder why I am so emotional?
Scary running memory: I have been flashed in Duxbury, Milan, Durham 2X,
and in Chicago by a guy on a bike. Is this normal?
Worst running memory: Franklin Park Cross Country Division Championships:
I remember it was so cold and rained so hard the HS football game was canceled.
My muscles froze up during an early race fall and by the end I couldn't feel them.
The last 200 meters began with a muddy descent. Let's just say I thought
I was Super Man and ended up crawling like a baby over the finish line.
HS was a tough time for racing... I have crawled over a few finish lines,
had oxygen in the emergency vehicle and been so delirious, I cut across
the football field on the final lap of one of the races. I guess the
apple for lunch didn't provide quite enough energy. Maybe this is runner's high?
Or was I just on drugs to keep on racing?
Running PR's (when and where):
Khourys: Never been. (Steve, I really have been meaning to make it one of these nights!!)
5K: 17:40 (roughly... this is going back to college) UNH 1989
10K: 37:40 Portsmouth, NH 1990
Marathon: 3:17:09 Boston 2001
800 meter: 2:19:01
1500 meter: 4:41:01
Favorite author: John Grisham
Favorite book: It's not about the bike
