VOLUNTEERING

We couldn't possibly put on this race and raise money for our charities without the generous support of our volunteers every year. You can even run the race and still volunteer! Please consider volunteering as we need to ensure we have the right amount of people helping. If you enjoy the Gobble and would like to be more involved, we'd love for you to lend a hand. There are opportunities to help out at our Early Registration Pickup at Marathon Sports in Cambridge over the weekend before the race. And there are many tasks we need help with on race day.

Favorite Family

We are thrilled to have The Kier Byrnes Freedom Runners as the 2018 Favorite Family. The favorite family is a Gobble tradition where we select a family every year that has incorporated the Gobble into their Holiday traditions. The clan's name is displayed on that year's t-shirt and the family receives a turkey and SRR swag the week leading up to the race.

“As Somerville is the home of many out-of-towners with no blood relatives in the area to travel to, this run group has opened its arms and let in a wide array of Thanksgiving stragglers who otherwise would have no one to break bread with and celebrate the bounty of good in the world.

Adam Amsterdam and Lucinda Stratton act as our head of table, inviting people to join the run, joining in the post-race activities, and hosting a 20+ person meal at their table. Their home is open to everyone from MIT professors and grad students to first-time-away-from-Mom career starters, from single people to full families. Everyone is welcome and their giving nature knows no end. “ - from their favorite family application

Thank you to the The Kier Byrnes Freedom Runners for all your support your are definitely a favorite!

It also operates food pantries in three city locations; a meal-delivery service for the elderly, disabled, and those living with AIDS; a dollar-a-bag program of fresh fruits and vegetables; and nutrition classes and outreach.
